Cultural Trends in Vietnam

Five experts in Art, Fashion, Architecture, Design and Branding give their opinion about cultural trends in Vietnam. They discuss about their work in 2017, the inspiring work of other creatives and attempt to foresee the future of creativity & art in Vietnam.


This article is not meant to be exhaustive and all the points of view are really interesting coming from experts such as the founders of Rice (Joshua Breidenbach) & The Lab Saigon (Tuan Le) of the artist Richard Streitmatter-Tran.


We just want to add our humble opinion about creative event projects that excited us recently:

- The opening of VCCA in a mall in Ha Noi. Despite the controversies brought by the sponsoring, this initiative and the choice of the location is a step to make Art accessible to everyone

- The first festival in the city by An Ordinary City: :Playtime. The organizers manage to gather many institutions, associations and creative hubs to create a big playground in the city.

- The opening of Soma Art Cafe, created by the founders of Saigon Outcast, that exhibits regularly HCMC artists on Le Van Mien street, the "Art street" of D2.


Of course, 2017 was also a sad year for art as we saw the closing of 3A Station. But let's hope that the dynamism of HCMC and Vietnam hhttps://www.facebook.com/nhaga3a.vn/
